Preface

In a city like São Paulo, in which the car is still taken as priority, the relation between people and space is given in a diverse way and is getting worse. The perception of the precariousness of a scenographic world becomes value when taken as reality.

The great distances between living and working makes us not want to be detained on those unbearable journeys: we are exhausted.

The street artists, free, trace the beauties of their imaginaries about the rushed city and offer concretely the transformation of our paths in joy, in thinking, in identity and acknowledge. It’s about understanding that, somehow, we are not alone.

Submerged on this mass arises the Pinheiros River, focal object of this work, the possibility of reconstruction, or before, of patching a non-place, an anti-place, a place that is undesired. Our capitalist addiction operates the waste as a vanity, thus a place is destroyed so that’s possible to generate profits.

We ask: what city do we want?

We don’t want to save, don’t want to go back to the past, don’t want the beauty of the monuments. We are talking about conviviality.

So, the scenographic action turns itself and takes place in time, on networks, and it dematerializes. The trace, the stencil, the direct inscription at the city’s space, at the flow, the imagination of the moving pictures, following up cars, to be seen by satellite, planetary. Each individual, political being, is a constituent part of this process, acting or not. The question is made, memory is provoked into participating. Life as performance, the live art, direct speech. Thus, I become river.
